Atlas Sponsors Charity Bowl-A-Thon
IT professional services provider Atlas Professional Services was proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the 15th Annual Jason Ackerman Memorial Bowl-A-Thon and Silent Auction. The foundation held the fundraiser on August 28 at Pin Chasers Veterans in Tampa. After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s event raised more than $80,000 for the Jason Ackerman Foundation.
About the Jason Ackerman Foundation
The Jason Ackerman Foundation focuses on improving the lives of youth who face and/or have survived challenging circumstances through educational support and entertaining experiences. All proceeds from the bowl-a-thon support the Jason Ackerman Memorial Scholarships. Granted annually, these college scholarships celebrate youth who have survived health issues or life-altering circumstances beyond their control. Despite challenges, they continue to thrive and “pay it forward.”
Over the last 15 years, the Jason Ackerman Foundation has provided 333 scholarships totaling $1.3 million to local teens. This is thanks in part to the funds raised at the bowl-a-thon. The scholarships alleviate some financial obligations and stress, as well as offer hope and encouragement to recipients.
The 2022 Bowl-A-Thon
“Giving back to the community is important to our organization and our team members,” said Greg Zolkos. The CEO and President of IT professional services provider Atlas is also a founding member of the Jason Ackerman Foundation board of directors. “We were thrilled to participate in this event once again, especially after a two-year break. It’s one of the few charity events that invites the whole family to attend.”
Many generous individuals and organizations throughout the area participated in the bowl-a-thon. Thunderbug, the mascot of the Tampa Bay Lightning, joined the festivities. Silent auction items included dinners with local athletes, sporting event tickets, memorabilia and jewelry.
“It was amazing to be back at Pin Chasers to host our 15th Annual Bowl-a-Thon,” said Ron and Tina Ackerman, founder of the Jason Ackerman Foundation and owners of Ackerman Jewelers. “We are so thrilled to have had so many people support us and the foundation for the past 15 years, including sponsors, friends, staff, volunteers and, of course, our phenomenal board.”
