Get to Know Project Manager Samie Billie
Welcome to another Atlas Professional Services Team Member Spotlight! Here, you get to know more about the people who serve our clients and make Atlas a great place to work.
This spotlight is on Project Manager Samantha “Samie” Billie. Samie joined Atlas in 2016 as a receptionist, then was promoted to service dispatcher and eventually worked her way up to her current role as project manager. She’s been a huge asset to our team over the years, and is our unofficial party planner, office photographer and Bravo-enthusiast.
We featured Samie in a past Team Member Spotlight, but since then she’s had some updates – including a new last name, job title and travels. So, here’s an updated post where Samie shares career insights and personal fun facts, in her own words.
Career Insights
Tell us a little bit about your career and educational background.
I graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduating, I pursued a career as a Therapeutic Support Staff worker aiding children with special needs. My career shifted when I relocated to Florida and got a job at Atlas as a receptionist and worked my way up to project management.
What do you like most about working in the IT industry, in general?
I’ve never seen myself as a “technical” person. However, I did develop some knowledge from working in this industry. I like that there are always new realms to explore and endless opportunities to learn new things.
What do you like most about your current role and/or working at Atlas?
I love creating and planning things and enjoy working with and helping others. Making a difference in our customers’ IT environments is enjoyable, as I know this is helping a business. I also love my co-workers and our culture at Atlas. It’s rare to find a place where the work environment feels almost family-like.
