News: Atlas Names Tony Martinez CEO
We are thrilled to announced we’ve hired IT executive Tony Martinez, MBA, as chief executive officer (CEO). Tony brings to the role 20 years of IT and cybersecurity experience.
“As a USF alum and having spent the last 20 years in the greater Tampa Bay technology scene, I’m thrilled to join the Atlas team as we continue to lead and serve this booming community of businesses,” Tony said.
Prior to joining Atlas, Tony served as chief growth officer at risk management software company SecurityStudio. He has also held leadership positions at MGT Consulting Group, CyberSequr and ISC2.
“Tony has been an instrumental part of several successful growth ventures in both the private and public market sectors,” said Greg Zolkos, founder and chairman of Atlas Professional Services. “As a leader, he focuses on operational excellence, customer experience and a culture of growth – all of which make him a great fit to lead our organization into the future.”
Greg founded Atlas in 2006. Under his leadership as founder, president and CEO the past 18 years, the managed service provider (MSP) has grown to a team of 45 employees serving over 170 clients that include small, mid-sized and large businesses in all types of industries.
Atlas Professional Services has won dozens of awards over the years from local, regional and national news, business and IT organizations. These include awards recognizing our company culture, growth and excellence in service and operations. We’ve won the Tampa Bay Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award in the 21-50 employees category in 2019, and Greg was a finalist for the organization’s Outstanding Leader of the Year Award in 2023.
“As a former Atlas client when I worked at MGT, I can speak first-hand to Atlas’s fidelity toward customer satisfaction,” Tony said. “Atlas is a local market leader in providing managed IT and cybersecurity, and I’m looking forward to seeing this team continue building on their long track record serving the local economy. We continue to bet big on the future of the bay area!”
Tony holds a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of South Florida and a Master in Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology. He also serves on the board of directors of nonprofit Goodwill-Suncoast and previously served on the City of Tampa’s Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council under former mayor Bob Buckhorn. Tony is a native of Madrid, Spain.
As Tony assumes the role of CEO at Atlas, Greg now serves as regional CEO South of Lyra Technology Group and will oversee eight MSPs throughout the Southeast U.S., including Atlas. He will remain active in the Tampa Bay business and philanthropic community and maintains an office at Atlas Professional Services in Tampa.
“I’m so proud of the job our team has done to get Atlas to this point where I can now pursue my passion of helping even more MSPs,” Greg said. “I’m still here to serve Atlas and Tampa Bay, and I’m able to share best practices and leadership with other MSPs to help them succeed – it’s a natural evolution of my career and the best of both worlds.”
