Year Two: Atlas Completes SOC 2
Atlas Professional Services recently completed its examination for System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II compliance. This is the second year we conducted a SOC 2 audit and received a report on the organization’s controls relevant to security.
Cybersecurity and compliance firm A-LIGN conducted a three-month SOC 2 audit of Atlas’ internal controls as part of the examination.
Based on the company’s compliance with the AICPA‘s (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) TSC (Trust Services Criteria), the audit found that Atlas meets the SOC 2 standards for:
- Security
- Availability
- Processing integrity
- Confidentiality and privacy
Why a SOC 2 Audit?
Atlas handles highly sensitive and confidential information for clients. This includes passwords, documents and system information. The SOC 2 Type II report focuses on an organization’s internal controls related to compliance and operations. It also evaluates the effectiveness of these controls over time.
“Our clients instill a lot of trust in us,” said Greg Zolkos, President and CEO of Atlas Professional Services. “It is important for us to complete the annual SOC 2 examination to ensure our internal procedures and controls are offering the highest level of protection to our clients.”
And, with cybersecurity risks at an all-time high, ensuring that every possible layer of protection is in place is crucial.
Tests of Atlas’s control environment included:
- An inspection of the organizational structure
- Inquiries with management, operations, administrative and other personnel
- Observations of personnel in the performance of their assigned duties
- Inspection of documents and records pertaining to controls.
Atlas will continue to perform a SOC 2 audit and examination on an annual basis.
