Atlas Introduces New Security and Managed Detection and Response Tools

At Atlas, we’ve used products from Huntress for Advanced Threat Detection (ATD) since 2021. Now, we’re adding to our cybersecurity stack and using tools from Huntress for managed detection and response and security awareness training.

These tools provide added layers of cybersecurity to our managed IT service clients. They ensure that threats are detected quickly and that employees are educated on the risks they pose to a company’s cybersecurity. They also help satisfy cyber security insurance requirements for insurability.

Keep reading to learn more about these new Huntress tools and why we use them at Atlas.

Huntress Managed ITDR – A Microsoft 365 managed detection and response tool

Huntress Managed Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) protects against identity-focused cyberthreats in Microsoft 365. The managed detection and response tool – which was previously called MDR for Microsoft 365 – monitors for threats such as:

With many businesses using the entire Microsoft 365 suite, protecting login information has become more important than ever. If a hacker were to steal a user’s credentials or take over the account of an employee, all information that employee has access to is at risk. What’s more, if this were to happen to someone like the CEO of CFO, the risk of fraud or theft due to BEC is very high.

What’s great about Huntress’ managed detection and response tool is that it only alerts users of threats that are truly malicious. This cuts down on alert fatigue and ensures that users and IT support take action to mitigate threats quickly.

Here’s how it works:

  • Huntress’ Security Operations Center captures and analyzes data using smart detection logic to quickly identify threats.
  • The tool escalates threats, as needed, to gather more information and identify whether a threat is truly malicious.
  • Huntress analysts analyze data and review unwanted access rules to identify threats.
  • Huntress sends end-users an incident report that summarizes findings and identifies next steps. These can be sent via email or in your IT ticketing system.
  • In some cases, Huntress will automatically remediate threats by logging out of the account and disabling an identity when malicious activity is detected.

At Atlas, we recommend that all clients who use Microsoft 365 add Huntress Managed ITDR to their cybersecurity stack. This stack should also include:

Huntress Security Awareness Training

Another tool we’ve started using at Atlas is the Huntress Security Awareness Training. Data breaches caused by human error continue to be a major problem for businesses. Employee education and training is the best way to teach employees to:

  • Identify ransomware
  • Identify phishing emails
  • Properly manage passwords
  • Protect sensitive information

The Huntress security awareness tool does this through story-driven lessons, phishing simulations and phishing defense coaching. The program can simulate phishing scenarios designed with real-world scenarios in mind and schedule lessons on an ongoing basis. If a user clicks on the phishing scenario, they can learn what went wrong and how to identify signs of future phishing attacks.

Huntress designs phishing scenarios based on threats they see every day. So, users are always learning about the latest cyberthreats. Also, on the back-end, IT departments and managed IT service providers can easily manage trainings. Administrators can see who has completed the trainings and view completion status in real time.
